Local Community Programs
NDSA strives to directly impact the communities in which we live and serve. Our chapter motto is:” We meet on Thursday so that we can serve on Saturday”. Throughout the year, various projects are customized for each of the cities within our service area and implemented through chapter PODS.
NDSA established a POD concept where Chapter members are divided geographically into small groups by the areas where they reside. These small groups provide community service in their respective geographic location. Community service is the “Heart of the Chapter” and each POD finds opportunities to provide service they see a need in their part of our service area.
Examples of these projects are:
- Volunteering at local food pantries
- Serving meals at homeless shelters
- Supporting local battered women’s shelters
- Caroling and toiletry drive at senior homes
- Thanksgiving baskets for families in need
- Christmas toy drives for needy children
NDSA continues to ensure that we don’t just exist in our communities, but that we also have a positive impact to influence suburban North Dallas.
Thanksgiving Basket Drive
During Thanksgiving time each year, NDSA collaborates with local charities to donate a healthy Thanksgiving meal to families in need consisting of a traditional meal including fresh fruits and vegetables around the North Dallas community.
Our goal is to make a positive impact, politically and socially in the communities we serve
